A Newcastle hotel held a special ‘Innside the bedroom’ intimate gig – and it was a gig like no other

When it comes to intimate gigs – you can’t get much more intimate than watching one in a hotel suite. And the INNSiDE Hotel on Newcastle’s Quayside, is giving visitors just that.

The hotel held a ‘INNSiDE the Bedroom’ event – a unique experience of watching up-and-coming singers and song writers perform in a bedroom suite at the hotel – with a stunning backdrop of the Tyne Bridge.

I attended the latest event, held in partnership with the Aelious Alternative festival which was taking place in Newcastle. The festival showcased emerging talent, cultural venues, and businesses in the city.

The hotel had three acts taking part in the gig. When we arrived we were taken up to the Townhouse Suite where we were offered drinks and some delicious canopies. We had a look around the suite and checked out the impressive view of the Quayside.

Once all the guests had arrived, about 20 in total, we took a seat and were introduced to the performers. We were treated to performances from three grassroot artists. First up was Gemma Gates. Gemma sang four of her own songs and it was the perfect start to the evening. She was followed by Eliza Faye. Eliza had a brilliant unique voice and lifted the tempo of the evening. A highlight was a cover of Beyonce’s Daddy Lessons.

Next up was Jupiter Strange – some of the members couldn’t make it but we duo who performed certainly did not disappoint. They had guests mesmerised by their set.

Once the performances were finished the guests could have some more drink and nibbles and enjoy the peaceful setting of the evening by the river.

It truly was a gig with a difference and gave a unique experience with one of the best views in the city. It was a very chilled night – a perfect way to wind down and enjoy a Friday night after work.

INNSiDE The Bedroom gigis are being held at INNSiDE hotels across the UK and was initially launched last year with singer-songwriter Newcastle- based Andrew Cushin, who took over an INNSiDE Manchester bedroom with an acoustic set.

And the Newcastle hotel aims to host more of these in the future – and if you are a fan of grassroots music and chilling out after a busy week at work – this is right up your street.
