With the sun shining a bit more frequently and spring in the air, many of us are looking forward to our weekend breaks and holidays to warmer climates. But one thing that often puts a bit of a dampener on our trip when booking it is the additional fees for luggage when boarding a flight. But thankfully, travellers have the option to bring a bag onboard that can fit under the seat for free and the industry is brimming with cabin bag options that adhere to the dimensions given by budget airlines.
We’ve found one on Amazon that shoppers say offers a ‘surprising’ amount of room despite being a backpack, making it ideal for a short trip away without having to skimp on packing. What’s more is it’s currently on sale. The ECOHUB Cabin Bag measures at 40x20x25 – the exact dimensions Ryanair allows – and usually retails at £49.99. With 35% off in a limited time deal on Amazon, the bag currently costs £32.29.
Available in 7 different colours from black and green to red and purple, the bag has a capacity of 20 litres with the main compartment opening up just like a suitcase – which makes packing and finding your essential items en route a breeze.

With elastic straps to compress your luggage items like bulky shoes and clothes, the bag also has a computer compartment for any work trips as well as a small dedicated power bank pocket. Three pockets on the front allow for smaller items to be stored separately while a quick access pocket on the top is perfect for passports, boarding passes and phones.
The bag also comes with two side straps to tighten the bag up and save even more space one packed.
With two handles, one on the side and one at the top, the bag looks like it’d be super easy to carry and also comes with thick shoulder strips with foam padding. Eco-conscious folk will also be pleased to hear that the bag is made from 30 plastic pet bottles. This recycled fabric is water-resistant and lightweight and certified by GRS.
The ECOHUB bag’s zippers are also built with Heavy Duty SBS and have reinforced ripstop stitching, which gives peace of mind that the bag won’t easily come apart – although some shoppers have contested this, saying that after a year of use ‘it is starting to all apart’ stating “a seam has let go in the laptop compartment’.
Despite this, avid travellers have awarded the bag an impressive 4.6 star rating, with over 1,274 five star reviews calling it ‘top class for travelling’.
One happy Amazon customer shared their experience and said: “This is an almost perfect bag for underseat airline travel, and general travelling and commuting. It’s the right size and can be compressed, external handles are really useful (I didn’t think they would be). The pockets are the right size in the right places. The back band (too big to be a strap) really holds this bag over the handles of a larger cabin trolley, with no slipping. The straps are comfortable for commuting and airports. Zips are really good.”
They added: “I’d use this for any type of commuting or travel,” although warned: “but if you are hiking or trekking, it’s not the right product, but for everything else, perfect.”

Another cited: “Just back from holiday and we took this as our underseat carry on (EasyJet), no issues with size and it holds a surprising amount. The back section is lightly padded for laptops and tablets and the bag has numerous compartments including a small pocket that’s ideal for the passport/boarding pass.
“The bag seems like good quality and I cant see any issues with mine after its first round trip. The numerous pockets make it easy to pack and find things and the side straps allow the bag to be compressed to fit into the luggage stand at the airport. Quite comfortable to wear, with adjustable straps and some back padding, very happy with this little carry-on bag.”
A third echoed: “Such a wonderful find. Bought 2 of these for travelling recently. The perfect luggage companion for a weekend/short trip away. So many compartments to put all your clothing / tech / toiletries / etc. Easy to carry. Easy to fully open. Not super heavy before you start to fill it.”

If you’re happy to spend a little more on a backpack. Nordace’s Siena backpack, which fits into the budget airline specs, is down from £139 to £88.99, meanwhile Antler’s Essential backpack in taupe is currently on sale for £92 from £115. While it’s just outside of Ryanairs dimensions, it fits into EasyJet’s 56 x 45 x 25 cm. Alternatively, Dunelm’s simple black Carry On Travel Backpack is £25.
