An anonymous celebrity has come forward claiming that he’s a victim of an extortion scheme and has filed a lawsuit against an attorney that’s representing Sean Diddy Combs’ accusers.
CNN reports that in the filed lawsuit, the unnamed plaintiff is described as a “celebrity and public figure who resides in Los Angeles. His lawsuit, filed under the “John Doe” pseudonym in Los Angeles Superior Court, accuses attorney Tony Buzbee of “shamelessly attempting to extort exorbitant sums from him or else publicly file wildly false horrific allegations against him.”
The lawsuit also alleges that Buzbee and his law firm are attempting to loop in public figures that have been friends with Diddy in the past to capitalize on the “explosive allegations” against him. The unnamed celebrity also claimed that Buzbee sent him a demand letter recently that “threatened to unleash entirely fabricated and salacious allegations of sexual assault” if the Doe “refuses to comply with their demands.”
Buzbee, who’s seen these allegations, hopped on Instagram to address them recently. “We won’t allow the powerful and their high-dollar lawyers to intimidate or silence sexual assault survivors,” he wrote.
“The case filed against my firm is not only without legal merit, it is laughable,” he added. “I won’t be silenced or intimidated. Neither will my clients.
At the beginning of October, Buzbee held a press conference announcing that he was representing 120 accusers that have allegations against Diddy that span the last 20 years. Of the 120 victims, 25 of them were underaged when the alleged abuse happened.
“We will expose the enablers who enabled this conduct behind closed doors,” said Buzbee at the conference. We will pursue this matter no matter who the evidence implicates.”
Buzbee claimed that there were more than 3,000 people that came to his office with accusations against Diddy — also that “many powerful people” were involved, and that his team “collected pictures, videos, texts.”
In a statement from Diddy’s attorney Erica Wolff, the music mogul denied the claims. “As Mr. Combs’ legal team has emphasized, he cannot address every meritless allegation in what has become a reckless media circus,” she said. “That said, Mr. Combs emphatically and categorically denies as false and defamatory any claim that he sexually abused anyone, including minors. He looks forward to proving his innocence and vindicating himself in court, where the truth will be established based on evidence, not speculation.”
