Ant McPartlin was all smiles when he returned to work following the birth of his son Wilder two weeks ago.
The TV personality, who welcomed baby Wilder into the world with wife Anne-Marie on Tuesday, 14 May, beamed from ear to ear as he returned to his Britain’s Got Talent presenting duties alongside close pal Declan Donnelly. The duo, who looked suave in matching navy blue three piece suits, reunited on Monday, 27 May for the first of this year’s Britain’s Got Talent live semi-final shows at the Hammersmith Apollo in London.
Fans at home welcomed 48 year old Ant’s return to work with open arms and many took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to praise the TV presenter’s appearance on the ITV show. “Simon congratulating ant becoming a dad and the birth of his baby boy and he’s happy for him #BGT #Britainsgottalent,” wrote one.
“Ant’s first time on live TV since the birth of his child and he’s happier than ever #BGT,” another added. “Simon saying congrats to ant and him having the biggest smile my heart #bgt,” wrote a third.
Ant’s return to work comes just days after King Charles was left in stitches after Dec shared an update regarding the new dad’s life after welcoming Wilder into the world. As he greeted the monarch, 48 year old Dec explained that co-host Ant was unable to be at Buckingham Palace himself because he was on parenting duties – and part of that meant feeding his son.
As he apologised to King Charles for his pal’s absence at the event for The Prince’s Trust, Dec, who attended the event with wife Ali Astall, joked that he “broke royal protocol” as he gave an update about his pal. After meeting the King, Dec admitted that he may have made a faux paus.
He said: “I passed on Ant’s apology that he couldn’t be here today because he was at home breastfeeding.” With a laugh, he continued: “I don’t know whether I broke royal protocol by giving that information.”
The Prince’s Trust reception allowed the monarch to interact with winners of the Prince’s Trust Awards as well as celebrities including Martin Freeman, Pixie Lott and Ellie Simmonds who presented awards.
Speaking about the award winners, Dec said: “All the young people behind us here, some incredible stories again about people getting their life on track and making a real difference to their communities, and some incredible stories yet again.”
