ASAP Relli Still Suing ASAP Rocky for Assault and Battery in Civil Case

ASAP Relli is still pursuing a civil case against ASAP Rocky.

Rolling Stone reports that Relli is moving forward with the assault and battery lawsuit, even though Rocky was found not guilty in the criminal trial. On Wednesday, a judge set Jan. 12, 2026, as the first trial date for the civil suit and May 28, 2025, as the next hearing.

“We intend to continue litigating this case,” Relli’s lawyer, Melissa Mikail, said in a virtual hearing. “The standard in a criminal case is much higher than the preponderance of the evidence standard in a civil matter. We still believe that our claims have merit, and we intend on fully litigating them.”

Rocky was acquitted on two felony counts of assault with a semiautomatic firearm on Feb. 18 after being accused of firing the weapon at Relli, a former ASAP Mob associate. The incident took place in 2021, with Rocky later arrested in April 2022. Relli subsequently hit Rocky with the civil suit in August 2022.

Relli alleged that Rocky pulled out the pistol and opened fire during a verbal argument, while Rocky’s legal team said he was carrying a prop gun for safety. His attorney, Joe Tacopina later accused Relli of perjuring himself on the stand. Rocky continued to maintain his innocence, pleading not guilty and declining the DA’s plea deal that would have had him spend 180 days in jail. If convicted, he could have faced up to 24 years behind bars.

“My position is there’s no longer a basis for them. [Relli] testified in the criminal case as to the facts and circumstances. The jury’s acquittal speaks volumes as to how they valued that testimonial evidence,” Rocky’s civil lawyer, James Sargent told the judge.

It seems that Rocky isn’t offering a financial settlement to Relli either, even though that is allegedly what he’s been seeking. According to the outlet, jurors apparently heard that Relli asked for a $30 million settlement from Rocky to sidestep another lawsuit.

Jurors additionally reportedly heard a recorded phone call of Relli telling his friend that he would use the money to run away to a tropical island—and that the money would dissuade him from testifying in the criminal trial. Tacopina explained to jurors that that equaled extortion.
