Greggs’ sausage rolls are some of the most popular snacks in the UK, especially so in the North East, where the brand originated. Tens of millions are enjoyed every week across the UK, and it’s not hard to see why.
There may be nothing that beats the original sausage roll, but ASDA is offering an interesting promotion to sway people over with free treats—but there’s a catch. As part of the celebration of its price rollbacks (and the fact that they’re now cheaper than the original), they have some free sausage rolls up for grabs, but only to people called Greg.
“Greg’s sausage rolls,” as they’re being referred to, are completely free for people who present a photo ID at the checkout to claim a free hot sausage roll. If you’re not called Greg, there’s no need to feel left out, as thanks to the rollback promotion, they cost £1.12, 18p cheaper than the northern bakery chain.

Asda is introducing more rollbacks to combat the cost-of-living crisis. Part of its mission is to satisfy the daily and weekly shopping needs of ordinary working people and their families and give them good value for money.
In the announcement, Emily Morley, Buying Manager, Rotisserie and Hot Food to Go at Asda stated: “We’re rolling out the golden, flaky pastry red carpet for the Gregs of the UK to sample our delicious hot sausage rolls as part of our Rollback celebrations- a fun way to show the UK you can get great quality and taste at just a fraction of the price. Step forth, Gregs of Britain, and embrace your delicious destiny, and for everyone else, enjoy a bargain sausage roll for just £1.12.”
According to a press release from the supermarket chain, the initiative has reduced the prices of more than 4,000 family-favourite products by an average discount of 25% in-store and online.
Every category in the store and Asda Express stores is included, meaning customers will save on their whole basket whenever and wherever they shop.
The offer is valid on Thursday, March 6th, and will end on Friday, March 7th, so you only have two days to take advantage of this flaky deal.
