Basshunter brings Newcastle bar to ‘standstill’ as dance icon entertains on packed Friday night

JUst 24 hours after he entertained a large crowd at a Clubland event in the city, Basshunter packed out a Newcastle bar on Friday night, playing an extended set to the delight of drinkers who clamoured to get their hands on tickets.

When it was announced earlier this year that the man responsible for big hits like Now You’re Gone and All I Ever Wanted was going to be playing at Alfie’s bar, just outside of town, demand for the limited number of tickets available went through the roof. Very different to the stage he performed on the night before, when he joined the likes of Cascada, Darren Styles and Ultrabeat at Clubland Live at Utilita Arena, Basshunter, real name Jonas Altberg, had his captive crowd in the palm of his hand, as he belted out songs including Angel of the Night.

Videos taken from inside the bar show revellers going wild for Basshunter, as he fed off the energy to make his set longer than originally intended and sent everyone with Now You’re Gone, his debut hit that shot to number 1 in the UK and across Europe in 2008.

Alfie’s is the place that has been causing a real stir over the last few months with its Eatflix nights, where guests get to eat and drink things seen on screen. The first set of events were Harry Potter themed, with dishes like lightning bolt shaped nachos, butter beer, Troll Bogey shots and a Devil’s Snare dessert.

Owners have recently revealed plans for the second loot of Eatflix specials, which will be inspired by Willy Wonka.
