Tipping Point presenter Ben Shephard could not contain his emotions when a contestant won an unprecedented £20,000.
The player, Clive, was overwhelmed with joy and shed tears as he secured the highest-ever jackpot in the show’s history, back in 2020.
Brimming with excitement, a teary-eyed Ben jumped around before giving Clive a massive hug.
“Clive you’ve done it! I can’t believe you have done it! ” the thrilled now-49 year old star exclaimed.
In response, Clive said: “I am knocked over! Thank you so much! “
An emotional Ben, who joked he was leaving his role on Good Morning Britain for Tipping Point back in 2020, added: “Clive, I have stood in front of this machine over a thousand times, the only time that has happened was when it was on a tray that didn’t get taken!”
“You have won £20,000 Clive!” As they both shared a celebratory embrace, Clive confessed: “I am welling up!”
“How does that feel Clive? ” the host asked. To which, an emotional Clive responded: “Fantastic!”
Fans were quick to share their reactions on Twitter at the time. “I’d seen the clip where Clive wins the double jackpot so it was nice to see the whole episode It’s probably one of my favorite game show moments of the year. Well done Clive #tippingpoint”, one viewer mentioned.
Another added: “Aw nice one Clive on #tippingpoint. Delighted for him, what a guy!”
Others joined in to cheer Clive’s victory, with one person saying: “#tippingpoint : oh Clive made me cry. Know old show but so happy for him.” Another fan wrote: “Oh my goodness, anyone else bawling at Clive on #tippingpoint winning with £20k? I’m as emotional as Clive and @benshephard What a lovely gracious and well deserving contestant xx”.
Ben did eventually quit GMB earlier this year, but it was to take up his new presenting role alongside Cat Deeley on This Morning.
The pair were confirmed as the morning show’s new presenters following the departure last year of both Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby.
Phillip quit after he admitted to having an “unwise but not illegal” affair with a much younger male colleague, while Holly wanted to spend more time with her family following an alleged kidnap and murder plot.
In Ben’s first few weeks on This Morning he was in the news for criticising co-host Cat for interrupting guests when they spoke.
Tipping Point: Best Ever Finals is on Sunday evening at 7.10pm on ITV1 and ITVX
