Adam Gillen, famed for playing the lovable Liam Conroy in ITV’s hit comedy Benidorm, has stunned fans with an impressive new look. Eleven years since we first saw him on-screen, Adam now boasts a full beard—quite the departure from the fresh-faced character we grew to love. The actor was spotted getting into the festive mood, sporting a jolly Santa hat while catching up with his former co-star Tony Maudsley (known as Kenneth Du Beke on the show), delighting fans with a dose of nostalgia.

The couple found romance behind the scenes of the sunny sitcom back in 2018 and were enjoying the scenic beauty of Croatia when Adam asked Laila to marry him. Adam’s character, Liam, became a fan favourite on Benidorm. Initially introduced as a holidaymaker visiting his father, Les Conroy, Liam went on to join the Solana resort staff, including a stint at the Blow ‘n’ Go Salon with Kenneth, providing viewers with memorable comedic moments. Benidorm, the British sitcom created by Derren Litten, originally aired on ITV from 2007 to 2018.
The show revolved around the Solana all-inclusive hotel in Benidorm, Spain, showcasing the lives of holidaymakers and staff over a week each year. Featuring an ensemble cast with diverse backgrounds, the series was known for its sharp wit, memorable characters, and portrayal of British holiday culture.
Despite its popularity, ITV cancelled the show after its tenth series in 2018. In 2019, a stage adaptation titled “Benidorm Live,” written by Derren, toured the UK and Ireland, allowing fans to relive the show’s humour live.

There has been no official announcement regarding a television reboot of the series. In 2022, Derren and the original cast reunited for a Benidorm convention. The video captured the moment Derren Litten joined forces with Steve Pemberton, Siobhan Finneran, Oliver Stokes, and Sheila Reid for an impromptu performance that left the audience in stitches.
In character as Mick, Pemberton quipped to Janice, played by Siobhan: “Now that we’ve sold that b****y hotel in Las Vegas, could this be our new big adventure? ” Derren playfully chimed in with, “Have you just announced season 11 of Benidorm? Who on earth would watch it? ” before echoing the words of Madge Garvey from series seven, episode two: “Ladies and gentlemen, in the worlds of Madge Garvey in series seven episode two, ‘Never say never. Never say never.'”.
