Beyond Paradise fans with a keen eye have spotted a clue that might just ‘confirm’ Humphrey Goodman’s exit.
A Death In Paradise legend made a surprise ‘cameo’ in Beyond Paradise, right before the big wedding episode. Humphrey Goodman (played by Kris Marshall) and Martha Lloyd (Sally Bretton) are gearing up for their wedding, and their friends and colleagues threw them a combined stag and hen party to celebrate the upcoming nuptials.
Their pals planned the event, aiming to bring a bit of Saint Marie to them, reflecting on where the couple rekindled their love story. Even though it’s been a while since they last visited Saint Marie, Friday evening saw a piece of the island brought to them as they toasted to their future.
Viewers were overjoyed when they noticed a tribute to Harry the Lizard, the much-loved reptilian character from the tropical detective series. However, some fans feared this was a hint that Humphrey would be returning to work in Saint Marie.
In a scene at the bar, a blow-up lizard was seen decorating the wall, a nod to the famous Harry the Lizard, a regular feature of the sun-drenched drama. Fans who noticed the homage quickly shared their thoughts on Twitter.
One fan couldn’t contain their excitement, posting: “At least #beyondparadise make sure @DIPHarryLizard gets a look in,” while another was full of compliments: “Brilliant episode. Great story, funny and incredibly poignant. Beautifully done, may have shed a tear or two. Also, a quick Harry reference there at the end! #BeyondParadise.”
Another pondered: “Could Humphrey be moving back Beyond Paradise to Death In Paradise? Was Harry a little nod to this?” One viewer noted: “Harry is the clue! They go to Honore for either a wedding or honeymoon and as death in paradise has no inspector, Humpfrey steps in to sort it just as a Christmas special!”
A fifth commented: “Awww a little model of Harry Harry is there in sprit, but physically he’s the guardian of the shack and whoever inhabits it like Kerby…maybe #beyondparadise.”
Earlier this year the return of Harry in an episode of Death In Paradise after a lengthy absence sparked joy among fans. A relieved fan messaged happily: “Oh thank god! We can stand down our fight now. Let’s hope this is the start of you being back on our screens every episode,” while another enthused: “Made my day thank goodness something to look forward to.”
The positive vibes were reflected by another telly watcher who then tweeted out: “And all is right with the world again.”
