A tea company with a huge range of flavours is set to open its first shop in Newcastle later this month.
Bird & Blend Tea Co. opens on Grainger Street on May 20, becoming the 19th store in the brand’s portfolio. The opening has created roles for a store manager, trainee manager, and four tea mixologists.
Aiming to offer and “imaginative and magical” customer journey, customers can try and buy more than 100 teas with flavours such as birthday cake, strawberry lemonade, and chocolate digestives. Bird & Blend also has the largest matcha tea range in the UK – while it also has the classics such as English Breakfast and Early Grey.
For the opening of the Newcastle store, the company has created an exclusive flavour for the shop named ‘Tea on Tyne’ which is described as a smoky tribute to the Angel of the North. The breakfast blend is inspired by coal mining and has red peppercorns to evoke the rusty red of the angel.
Bird & Blend also promises a range of events including mixology workshops, live matcha tea demos, a tea matching service, and other events.
Mike Turner, co-founder and managing director of Bird & Blend Tea Co., said: “Customer experience is at the heart of everything we do. Alongside the fast growth of the digital side of our business, we’re proudly continuing to invest in local high streets too.
“We see our stores as not just retail spaces, but as community hubs where customers can come to make connections with one another and our team, and enjoy interacting with our teas. For us, there will always be a place for magical in-person experiences and we’re delighted to be arriving in Newcastle.”
Though the shop opens on Monday, there will be an official opening part on Thursday, June 6, where the first 50 customers will receive a Newcastle tote bag and free tea. The first 20 will get a sample of the Newcastle store’s “Tea on the Tyne blend”.
