There was delight for staff and dinerrs at a certain Gateshead restaurant on Saturday night, when two boyband icons called in before they entertained hundreds of fans at The Glasshouse.
In a great location right at the end of the Tyne Bridge and just a short walk from the Hilton, where the likes of One Direction and Strictly Come Dancing stars have stayed in the last few years, the award-winning Raval Indian Brasserie & Bar has become a firm favourite for famous faces, with sports stars and music icons heading there, including 80s god Tony Hadley, who headed there for a slap up meal last year.
On Saturday it was Brian McFadden and Keith Duffy who walked through the doors, ahead of Boyzlife’s gig at The Glasshouse International Centre for Music, which just last month played host to the launch of the MOBO Awards in Newcastle. It’s been more than 20 years since Brian quit Westlife and 30 since Keith shot to fame as one of Boyzlife and, for nearly a decade now, the pair have been performing across the world a duo; singing songs from the groups that made them famous as well as new original material.
And, having both enjoyed some top notch Indian cuisine, Brian and Keith were full of praise for Raval, with Keith commenting: “”That was some of the best Indian food I’ve had in a long time!” Equally impressed, Brian commented: “The atmosphere here is amazing—great food, great service, and a perfect spot before a big show!”
Just like Brian and Keith, many fans who had tickets for the Boyzlife concert also headed to Raval for some pre-show food and were surprised by the identity of two of their fellow diners. Shocked to see Brian and Keith there,. one exclaimed: “Can’t believe I just had dinner next to Keith Duffy & Brian McFadden!” as a second reacted: “Boyzlife in Newcastle tonight AND at my favourite restaurant? What a night!”
Delighted to welcome Ravel’s latest celebrity diners, General Manager, Nas Islam, said: “It was a privilege to host Keith and Brian ahead of their big night. They were fantastic with our guests, creating a real buzz in the restaurant. It’s always exciting to welcome high-profile visitors, and this just reinforces Raval’s reputation as a place where stars choose to dine.”
