Chance the Rapper’s Wife Files for Divorce After 5 Years of Marriage

Chance the Rapper and his wife, Kirsten Corley, are officially getting divorced.

According to TMZ, last Friday (Dec. 13), Corley filed for divorce just months after the couple’s fifth wedding anniversary. Chance, born Chancelor Bennett and Corley share two daughters, Kensli, nine, and Marli, five.

Bennett and Corley announced their separation back in April but shared that they planned to continue raising their daughters amicably. The decision came after Bennett went viral after a video showed him Jamaica’s Carnival, was briefly seen dancing with a woman, who was not Corley, and smacking a her butt. Not long after, Corley posted a Maya Angelo passage about people who “don’t grow up,” which some perceived to be aimed at Bennett. Later that month, albeit the divorce announcement, the couple were reportedly said to be “all good.”

“After a period of separation, the two of us have arrived at the decision to part ways,” the two shared on their separate Instagram Stories at the time. “We came to this decision amicably and with gratitude for the time we spent together. God has blessed us with two beautiful daughters who we will continue to raise together. We kindly ask for privacy and respect as we navigate this transition. Thank you.”

Separation rumors swirled around Bennett and Corley years ago, and in a since-deleted Instagram post, per Yahoo!, Corley shared in 2020 that married life was “difficult.”

“I hope you see two imperfect human beings who are doing their best to cultivate a home rooted in Love & Grace. Marriage is difficult,” Kirsten captioned the post, accompanying an image of the couple and their daughters.

“It would be irresponsible to say otherwise, or give ya’ll the impression that it’s a walk in the park. It forces you to confront A LOT of parts of yourself you didn’t know were there.. especially in this season of being home way more than we’re used to lol but I believe it is worth it, when you both commit to doing the inner work. A reminder to stand in gratitude, for the family we have created. flaws & all.”

Bennett posted a thread on X, formerly known as Twitter, about first meeting his wife when she was nine at his mother’s office party. In adulthood, shortly after marrying Corley, the three-time Grammy winner dedicated his debut album, The Big Day, to his wife.
