The cobbles have been riddled with departures recently, and now a Coronation Street stalwart is expected to be the next in line for an exit. The ITV soap has witnessed a spate of goodbyes with Sue Cleaver, Daisy Midgeley, and Yasmeen Nazir among those making their departures known in recent months, sparking rumours of more stars either being cut or opting to leave Weatherfield.
Bookmakers are now suggesting that the iconic Michael Le Vell might be waving goodbye to his role as Kevin Webster after an impressive tenure spanning over four decades. Entertainment expert at Gambling.com, James Leyfield remarked, “It looks set to be a tough start to 2025 for Kevin, who will be diagnosed with testicular cancer,” adding, “It’s just 11/10 that Michael leaves Weatherfield this year.”

This indicates there’s nearly a 50 percent likelihood that the actor will depart from the show. Should he exit, Michael would join his on-screen sister Sue Devaney, known as Debbie Webster, who is also gearing up to leave later this year. Introduced to viewers back in 1985, Debbie is heading for a poignant storyline as she faces a dementia diagnosis before her character’s farewell.
A source confided to The Mirror last December about Sue: “Sue is a total professional and is already putting her all into what she sees as hugely important long running storyline. She saw the positive impact of the MND storyline and hopes that her dementia story can have the same effect and raise awareness of the condition,” reports the Mirror.
Coronation Street’s Michael Le Vell, 60, has been a familiar face on the ITV show since 1983, portraying Kevin Webster for over four decades. In a recent storyline, Kevin was set to be diagnosed with testicular cancer, which would inevitably put a strain on his relationship with wife Abi Franklin.

Corrie’s producer, Kate Brooks, shared with The Mirror: “The Websters are brilliant. Kevin and Sally are at the heart of it, then you’ve got Tim and you’ve got Abi. They’re a great character group. As we go into the new year, Kevin will discover that he’s got testicular cancer, which causes a massive strain on his relationship.”

“Abi is a really strong character, but she’s going through her own turmoil at the same time. We want to tell this really truthfully. We’ve been working closely with Macmillan to make sure that we tell the story right. “Ultimately, it’s about their relationship and testing that relationship. It was really important that we don’t show Kevin being embarrassed or being reticent to talk to his friends about it. He’s quite open about it, which I thought was quite refreshing.”
