An international drug dealer who lived in Horden enjoyed a “luxury lifestyle” police said.
Durham Constabulary said Syed Hassan, 31, has now been jailed for 15 years on drug supply charges. The force said Hassan had used an encrypted phone to contact “criminal associates” around the UK and globally as part of an operation supplying cocaine and cannabis.
Hassan was first arrested in 2020 when suspected of drug-driving. Durham Constabulary detectives then built a picture of the criminal activity he had been involved in, which included working with others to move Class A and Class B drugs around the UK.
Hassan enjoyed luxury cars, designer clothing and travelled to places such as Malaga, Amsterdam, Pakistan and Dubai. He lived what the police described as a “lavish lifestyle”.
Hassan, of Horden, appeared at Durham Crown Court on Tuesday (January 28) for sentencing. He received 15 years in prison and was made subject of a Serious Crime Prevention Order for five years. There will also be a proceeds of crime hearing, which is scheduled for February.
Anyone who suspects drug dealing is asked to call 101 or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 08000 555 111.
