Newcastle United are preparing to face Crystal Palace with the opportunity to stamp down their authority on sixth place in the Premier League table.
The Magpies have had a longer than usual rest period between matches as come kick-off tonight, it will have reached 11 days in total since Eddie Howe‘s men comfortably dispatched Tottenham Hotspur 4-0. It brings them nicely into the test against an in-form Crystal Palace team.
Under new manager Oliver Glasner, the Eagles have turned a corner and have pulled off impressive back-to-back results in recent weekends. First they went to Anfield and came away with an unlikely 1-0 upset, before going back to South London where they hammered West Ham 5-2 on Sunday.

It leaves them 11 points above the relegation zone, though safety is not guaranteed at this stage. Meanwhile Newcastle are pushing to claim sixth place in the league ahead of Manchester United, and have the chance to move three points in front of their shaky rivals, who face Sheffield United on the same night.
