Dancing On Ice star on starting a family: ‘I want babies – we’re going to start trying’

Former Dancing On Ice champion Alex Murphy tied the knot with YouTube star Paul Klein last year, and the pair have been living in wedded bliss ever since.

Alex – who rose to fame when she won the hit skating show with Joe Swash and left shortly after – wed her fiancé at stately home Ashridge House in Hertfordshire in December. But as OK! exclusively catch up with the 36 year old, she revealed fans could be hearing the patter of tiny feet sooner than they think.

“Paul and I are currently doing things to our home and renovating it,” Alex explained. “It’s a very exciting time,”

“There will, of course, be a nursery too. We’re on the cusp of trying for a baby. Ever since we got married, everyone has been asking ‘Are you ready?’ or ‘Do you want to have a baby?’ and we 100% want children. Plus, I think we might end up with twins – they run in either side of our family so I bet we end up with two.”

Alex and Paul – who originally met on Celebrity Coach Trip a few years ago- are now enjoying the first five months of marriage. In fact, Alex admitted it’s all she’s ever dreamed of and their bond has only strengthened since their special day.

“It was the best day of my life. It was phenomenal,” Alex said at Glasgow’s new Bloom new salon. “But what’s even better is afterwards – getting married has definitely made us feel more secure and fallen even more in love. It’s weird, but good weird.”

Rewinding just two years ago, things could have looked very different for the professional skater as she faced a traumatic cancer scare. The star – who also suffered a stroke at just 24 years old – found a lump on her breast in February 2022 but thankfully was given the all-clear.

“Everything is all good now,” she shared with fans at the time, after she was asked about it during an Instagram Q&A. “I found a lump on my boob, was referred to a specialist, and I had to have a series of mammograms, ultrasounds and biopsies. It came back benign so I’m in the clear – I’ve been referred for some generic counselling because of my family history.”

Now, one thing’s for sure – as Alex reflects during her trip to Scotland with Fake Bake – the future is all about the positives and remembering how far she’s come.

“It taught me how important it is to take care of yourself. My health is good now, touch wood, and so is my family’s. But things change so I’m trying to be grateful for the ‘now’.
