Amid divorce rumours for presenters Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford, it’s reported the pair are about to go through even more heartache.
The couple that presented This Morning together until 2021 have reportedly called time on their 14 year marriage. Now, the pair are apparently deciding who will get custody of their beloved dog, Maggie, which they currently share. Eamonn and Ruth are allegedly having ‘difficult conversations’ over who will be caring for the pooch.
A source told The Sun: “Maggie is like a daughter to them. They dote on her. But she’s getting on and they know she needs stability. It’s a case of who can give her that. Eamonn adores her and Maggie’s been such a support during his health woes. The thought of giving her up is heartbreaking to him.”
OK! has contacted Ruth and Eamonn’s teams for comment.
Ruth shared a short video of herself walking their beloved Maggie over the weekend. To this she added the text: “Enjoying the little bit of sunshine we got today!” Ruth then shared a sweet clip of Maggie cuddling her mum Joan, writing that the pooch was getting some “Grandma love.”
According to reports, Eamonn and Ruth’s relationship took a turn for the worse after they left This Morning three years ago. The couple left the program after having a regular slot on the ITV breakfast show since 2006.
The insider revealed the couple started moving in different directions in their careers and so chose to ‘change’ their priorities.
Fans of the formerly inseparable couple had been speculating about their relationship status after they hadn’t been seen together in months. The last public appearance was at The Television and Radio Industries Club awards in 2022.
Friends revealed that the couple had grown apart, but Ruth made a visit to her estranged partner during his recent hospital stay. Eamonn has been dealing with chronic pain for two years, which Ruth described as a ‘testing’ time for their family.
Eamonn is apparently set to return to GB News after the Bank Holiday weekend and open up about his split from Ruth.
Eamonn has also announced his new career move with Hayley Sparkes, who’s 40. And Eamonn expressed his excitement about becoming the new face of The Travel Franchise.
In a statement, he reflected on his experiences with the travel sector, especially during tumultuous times: “Working in news means that I often see or report on how the travel industry is disrupted. During the pandemic it was clear that those who had booked through travel agents had support and advice when they needed it most.”
