EastEnders fans are certain that a major death is on the horizon after some significant clues dropped recently. Viewers reckon they’ve pieced together who’s going to meet their end as Suki Panesar and Eve Unwin’s New Year’s Day wedding promises to be filled with drama.
Soap boss Chris Clenshaw admitted he was on tenterhooks when he previewed the episodes, which are yet to air. The upcoming nuptials of Suki (Balvinder Sopal) and Eve (Heather Peace) have been teased by directors as being monumental and unmissable. However, with Nish (Navin Chowdhry) determined to halt the wedding, things have taken a deadly twist. Nish, who is terminally ill, recently broke out of prison and pledged to shatter Suki and Eve’s joy.

In Tuesday night’s episode (31 December), he was seen receiving a suspicious-looking package. A taxi booking he subsequently made hinted at his sinister intentions. Nish had plotted to harm Eve in a final bid to prevent the wedding and split up the couple. When this plan failed, he returned home and asked his shady doctor for a favour, reports the Mirror.
The package he received contained what appeared to be a small glass bottle. While it wasn’t entirely clear what it was, viewers are convinced it’s some sort of poisonous substance. After booking a taxi and stating he wouldn’t need a return trip, Nish seems set to crash the wedding. So, is he planning to murder Suki or Eve, or both? Could someone else end up in the line of fire?

Fans are speculating that the upcoming episode will mark Nish’s demise, with some believing he will inadvertently cause his own death, leading to his exit from the show. The fact that he hasn’t booked a return trip has sparked theories, ranging from him anticipating getting caught to his heart issues becoming fatal.
One fan commented on X: “I’m convinced something bad happens to Eve or Nish finally dies. Suki Eve and Nish are not mentioned in spoilers beyond 6th Jan 2025.” Another viewer expressed their desired outcome: “Eve working out Nish’s plan giving him the poison and watching him die,” while a third fan predicted: “Obviously Nish will die on NYE/NYD.”

It won’t be the first disaster to happen on New Year’s in a soap. Back in 1998, Tiffany Mitchell (Martine McCutcheon) decided to leave Walford for a new life in Spain but was run down accidentally by Frank Butcher (Mike Reid) outside The Vic. More recently in 2017, Ronnie (Samantha Womack) and Roxy Mitchell (Rita Simons) drowned in a swimming pool on the night of Ronnie’s wedding to Jack Branning (Scott Maslen).
