EastEnders pulled from schedules in major shake-up tonight

The BBC have had a major schedule shakeup which has forced EastEnders off air tonight. And EastEnders is not the only show to be cancelled, The One Show will also not make it to screens on Tuesday (17 December). The two shows are making way for the annual Sports Personality of the Year ceremony.

Sports fans will get to tune in to see their heroes be celebrated during the show hosted by Gabby Logan, Alex Scott and Clare Balding. The show kicks off at 7pm and stretches across two hours resulting in EastEnders being moved to Friday (20 December) instead.

Team GB star Keely Hodgkinson is reportedly the hot favourite to win Sports Personality of the Year after she bagged herself a gold medal at the Paris Olympics. Not only that, but she also broke the British national record for 800m and is now the sixth fastest woman in history.

Also in the running is the 17 year old darts player Luke Littler who came runner-up at the World Darts Championship earlier this year. Also in contention for taking the Sports Personality of the Year title is Real Madrid footballer Jude Bellingham.

In EastEnders news, fans are concerned that Linda Carter (played by Kellie Bright) may have had her last Christmas in Walford. Linda’s alcoholism has been spiralling out of control and in last night’s episode (Monday 16 December), fans feared Linda had died.

In the latest episode, Linda’s life flashed before her eyes as the show depicted her death and how it would have impacted her friends and family if she passed away after not giving up booze.

Panicked fans rushed to social media on Monday to question whether Linda is dead, with one user writing: “So is linda dead or no???” and another posting: “Is Linda dead or is this just a flash episode?” One person commented: “Baffled…is Linda dead?”

Linda had a vision to see what would happen to her family if she died

Last Christmas, Linda murdered Keanu Taylor (Danny Walters) as she tried to protect Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean) from his wrath. Over the past year, the guilt of his death on her hands has hugely affected Linda’s mental health.

Linda’s own mum, Elaine Peacock (Harriet Thorpe), even issued her daughter with an ultimatum, go to rehab, or leave The Vic. Sadly, Linda chose drink over her health and in later scenes, friends of Linda’s were seen attending her funeral. However, fans soon discovered that none of it was real and was simply a flash sequence showing what could happen to her if she didn’t focus on recovery.
