EastEnders star Michelle Collins drops one word hint at Cindy Beale’s future

Ever since she returned to our screens after a 25 year absence last Summer, EastEnders legend Michelle Collins has been captivating viewers at home as they try and anticipate Cindy Beale’s next move. As regular viewers will know, the long-standing wife of Ian Beale returned to Albert Square last year after it was revealed she had previously faked her own death and entered a witness protection programme after testifying against a dangerous drug dealer.

Following her unexpected return from the ‘dead’ after the drug dealer died, Cindy headed home to Walford where she reunited with her husband and family, but soon found herself embroiled in a sticky situation as her former lover and father of two of her daughters George Knight had also just recently moved in across the road!

With chemistry bubbling away between the pair, fans are adamant that it will only be a matter of time before Cindy leaves Ian once again and rekindles her romance with George, but an illicit romance isn’t the only thing on the cards for Cindy, as Michelle teased what lies ahead for her character in the coming weeks.

Appearing on Friday’s episode of The One Show to promote her latest film, Stephen, the EastEnders icon let slip that many fans had been dubbing Cindy “too nice” since her return, with several calling for a return to her villainous roots – and it appears they may be about to get their wish.

Giving a one word answer to what lies ahead for Cindy, Michelle admitted her character would be getting “badder” in the coming days, before hosts Roman Kemp and Alex Jones interjected in a flurry of giggles after realising the correct word she was looking for was “worse”.

“I was trying to think of a word I could say! A lot of people have said Cindy’s too nice!” protested Michelle before also succumbing to laughter.

Although Michelle didn’t tease any further about what this could mean, it does open the door to the return of the Cindy Beale we all know and love from the 1990s, who had no qualms with steamy affairs, dodgy dealings and even on occasion – attempted murder! A new “badder’ Cindy could also signal an upping of the stakes in the fight for George’s affections as he its currently engaged to Elaine Peacock.

Could Cindy resort to underhanded tactics to win him over and drive a wedge between the happy couple? Or could Cindy step up to become the new business kingpin in town by duking it out with Nish Panesar in order to secure a lucrative business empire for her children?

Fans will have to tune in to find out what the future holds, but if Cindy’s track record is anything to go by – it will certainly be explosive.

EastEnders airs Monday to Thursday at 7:30pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer
