EastEnders Teddy Mitchell star’s real-life link to BBC soap icon as fans demand return

EastEnders has unveiled a shocking truth about Teddy Mitchell, revealing him as a violent brute. Since his arrival in Walford last year as Billy Mitchell’s (Perry Fenwick) long-lost half-brother, the cheeky chappy Teddy, portrayed by Roland Manookian, has remained somewhat of an enigma.

However, with the BBC One soap currently spinning a secret paternity plot, it seems Teddy’s true colours are coming to light. Nicola Mitchell (Laura Doddington) is concealing the fact that Zack Hudson (James Farrar), not Teddy, is the biological father of her teenage son Barney (Lewis Bridgeman).

Nicola had intended to keep this under wraps, especially given the knowledge of Zack’s half-sister Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean) having an affair with her ex-husband Grant Mitchell (Ross Kemp). This revelation could potentially heap more misery on Sharon’s suicidal ex-husband and Grant’s brother, Phil (Steve McFadden).

Earlier this week, Nicola orchestrated a brutal attack on Zack to silence him, but her actions sparked a violent response from a livid Sharon towards Nicola. The situation escalated when Barney spilled the beans to Teddy about Sharon’s infidelity.

Teddy has been left reeling from the truth about Sharon’s betrayal, who confessed to her fling with Grant and apologised, labelling it a mistake, reports Plymouth Live.

However, her confession triggered a usually composed Teddy to fly into a rage, smashing household items and berating Sharon for treating him like Phil and not sharing these issues sooner, leaving her shaken and distressed.

When Zack stumbles upon his distressed sister, Teddy lashes out at him once more, only halting when Barney intervenes. Later, Nicola issues a stern warning to both men about revealing the truth of Barney’s parentage to Teddy, cautioning that the menacing side of Teddy they witnessed today is a throwback to his old self – the ruthless Teddy she fell head over heels for.

Nicola is terrified of what Teddy might do if he loses Barney – she alleges that Teddy is a murderer and was behind the disappearance of Harry’s girlfriend, Shireen Bashar.

Albert Square’s Teddy Mitchell is brought to life by actor Roland Manookian, but off-screen, he shares a tight bond with former Queen Vic landlord actor Danny Dyer. The duo have shared screen time in a slew of popular films during the 2000s, including The Football Factory.

The 2004 film saw Dyer as the disenchanted 29 year old Tommy Johnson, who lives for weekend football matches, while Manookian portrayed his troublesome younger mate Zeberdee. They also starred together in Goodbye Charlie Bright (2001) and The Business (2005).

Mick Carter vanished on Christmas Day 2022 after a nine-year stint on the show, in a plot twist that had him swept away by the sea. Authorities confirmed their suspicion that Mick drowned and declared him presumed dead, but fans are still clamouring for his comeback.

One hopeful viewer recently posted on X: “I want them to have found Mick with memory loss, have done a DNA test and called Shirley to collect him. Let Shirl have been hiding him and bring them back together this Christmas #EastEnders.”

Another fan voiced their wish online, saying: “I’d love to see Mick Carter back, and him and Linda reunited” while another added their two pence with: “#EastEnders all we need now is Mick back.”

Venting some EastEnders-frustrated feelings, one person put it out there: “Right @bbceastenders you’ve killed off Martin, the public voted for the wrong man for Denise…..the LEAST you could do is get Mick back for our Linda! ! ! #Eastenders”.

EastEnders airs Monday to Thursday at 7.30pm on BBC One and available to stream on BBC iPlayer from 6am
