Newcastle United don’t have much time to wallow following the 2-0 defeat against Crystal Palace, with the Magpies quickly back in action this weekend. Eddie Howe’s side face Premier League basement side Sheffield United at St James’ Park as they look to reclaim sixth place.
The battle for a European spot is heating up, with Manchester United, Chelsea and West Ham all hopeful of landing sixth. It’s firmly in Newcastle’s hands, however, with a trip to Old Trafford to come next month. United are still missing a whole raft of players, although some are closing in on a return to first-team action.
We’ll get updates this morning on Kieran Trippier, Joelinton and Nick Pope, with the trio thought to be the closest to making a comeback. Howe could also make a tactical change this weekend, with Tino Livramenton and Lewis Hall ready to return to the side should they switch to a back four.
