Eldon Square’s ‘world famous’ new arrival confirmed for winter 2025 opening in Newcastle

A big hint on when the ‘world famous’ new arrival to Eldon Square will actually open its doors in Newcastle has been given, with it set to launch towards the end of a very exciting period for the shopping centre.

At the start of this month, it was announced that huge entertainment space Freight Island will take over the top floor and roof space of the former Debenhams building in Eldon Square. As well as having its own restaurant and a vast array of street food stalls, a key feature will be the Music Box—a new venue for live music and touring acts, allowing Freight Island to host a variety of events, including corporate gatherings, art showcases, theatre, national festivals and international tours.

Well, a few weeks ago, ChronicleLive found out that Freight Island won’t be the only new arrival to Newcastle city centre before the year is through, as the TV famous Flight Club, the cocktail and sports bar known across the globe, will too be coming to Eldon Square. Beyond darts, Flight Club’s appeal extends to its exceptional food and drink offerings. Guests can enjoy a range of delicious options, from freshly made sourdough pizzas to burgers and sharing dishes, all designed to complement the entertainment and ensure it remains a go to destination for its loyal customers.

And now Eldon Square themselves have made a further Flight Club related announcement, with them taking to Facebook, after dropping several clues, to write: “Grab your mates and get ready for social darts, unbeatable cocktails and a canny night out on the toon. Coming Winter 2025…” People who spotted the post were quick to react, with one commenting: “I’ll be there opening day” and another exclaiming: “YES!”

Flight Club will go into the big unit on the ground floor of the Grey’s Quarter area in Eldon Square, which has been left standing empty since the closure of Reds Barbecue a few years ago.

Delighted to be bringing Flight Club to Newcastle, its CEO and Founder, Steve Moore, commented: “Bringing Flight Club to Newcastle has been a long-term ambition for us. It’s a city that’s notorious for epic nights out, so we couldn’t be more excited to become a part of that when we open. We pride ourselves on creating spectacular bars with buzzing atmospheres that bring groups of people together for moments of unexpected, ridiculous joy. We can’t wait to show the North East what a Flight Club party looks like.”
