Emma Raducanu’s huge net worth, boyfriend ban, dating billionaire’s son and Australian Open bond

Emma Raducanu, the young British tennis sensation who shot to global fame following her 2021 US Open victory, has seen a dip in form due to injuries and inconsistent performances. Her stunning win at the US Open three years ago is still considered one of the greatest shocks in sporting history, as she remains the only qualifier in the Open era to clinch a Grand Slam singles title – a record unlikely to be equalled anytime soon.

After undergoing surgery on her hands and ankles last year, which led to a lengthy hiatus, Raducanu is now back in action, striving to regain her former glory. Now ranked 61st in the world, she produced one of her best displays in recent time in the first round of the Australian Open this month, overcoming erratic serve problems that saw her pick up 15 double faults to beat Russian 26th seed Ekaterina Alexandrova.

The 22-year-old next faces another higher-ranked player in Amanda Anisimova. The 23-year-old American, who is ranked 35th having returned from a nine-month mental health break in 2023, beat Argentina’s Maria Lourdes Carle 6-2 6-3 to set up Thursday’s match as she looks to challenge for more Grand Slam titles,

Raducanu’s ascent to fame has come at a cost, as she recently revealed her strict upbringing that forbade teenage romances. “My parents were very much against [boyfriends] as it interfered with training,” she disclosed in an interview with The Times.

“When I was younger I wasn’t even allowed to hang out with my girl friends. A lot of the time I was very resentful, but it made me very confident and comfortable in my own company,” reports the Express.

Since reaching adulthood, Raducanu had been linked with Carlo Agostinelli, the son of billionaire financier Robert Agostinelli. They dated for several months, with Agostinelli a promising footballer who spent three months on the books of Tottenham Hotspur before moving to the US and representing Stanford University.

The couple are reported to have first started dating in May 2023 and were seen on trips together, including to Mexico as they attended Dior’s 2024 Cruise show. They were also seen walking arm-in-arm and smiling together at Paris Fashion Week as their romance was confirmed, however, their relationship ended prior to this year’s Wimbledon.

Raducanu has since been linked with tennis players Jack Draper and Carlos Alcaraz. Fellow Brit Draper and Raducanu have formed a strong bond on the circuit, fuelling speculation about a possible romance between the two young players which has inevitably increased following their rise to fame. However, it’s understood that they are simply good friends.

Draper credited Raducanu’s achievement with fuelling his own ambitions. “What Emma did was obviously incredibly inspiring,” he said. “I’ve known her from a young age, and to see what she did was incredible.

“I was very proud of her, very excited. Obviously, we’ve watched the likes of Andy Murray winning a Grand Slam from Great Britain, but her winning, it was just really a fairy-tale run.

Draper continued to support Raducanu, praising her during a Vogue interview in July 2024 by calling her “a real special talent”. While rumours of a romance between the two have waned, Raducanu has recently been linked with Alcaraz following a flurry of social media interactions, as well as her being spotted watching him at last year’s All England Club final.

Earlier in the year when speculation was rife, Alcaraz gave a diplomatic answer regarding Raducanu’s presence at Wimbledon, saying: “I don’t know [if she came to see me in particular]. I don’t know. I think a lot of people have come to see the final.”

Aside from the talking points on her personal life, the young talent has also shared about her favourite pastimes away from the tennis court. Horse riding tops her list of expensive hobbies, although a tight schedule has curbed her time for equestrian pursuits; yet she hopes to re-engage with horse riding when her calendar allows. Speaking to Elle, Raducanu expressed her fondness for Bromley’s green spaces, looking forward to taking up horse riding once again.

Beyond sports, Raducanu delves into painting as a form of relaxation and escape from the pressures of competitive sport. She is also a devoted reader, always carrying a book with her to immerse herself in literary worlds whenever possible.

Raducanu’s personal wealth is impressive, with the Sunday Times Rich List estimating her net worth at around £10million in 2022. In 2021, Forbes listed her as the sixth highest-paid tennis player globally.

The majority of her income stems from brand endorsements. She has inked sponsorship deals with Nike, Wilson, and Evian, and serves as a brand ambassador for high-profile brands like Dior, Tiffany, and Porsche.

According to the WTA website, Raducanu has also pocketed £3.35m in prize money, including the £1.8m she earned for her US Open victory.

However, even bigger things are set to come for the British star, if she regains the form that saw her win the US Open as an 18-year-old qualifier. Experts predict that she could one day be worth in excess of a whopping £100million, if she can replicate the success she enjoyed in 2021. After she won the US Open, a leading sports agent told MailOnline: “She can easily earn £100 million or more. The sky’s the limit.”
