Emmerdale star Ned Porteous, known for his role as Joe Tate from 2017 to 2019, has sparked whispers of a secret split from girlfriend Sophia Lo. The couple – who started dating in 2022 – were once all over one another’s social media pages, sharing snaps and commenting on each other’s posts.
However, it seems they’ve scrubbed all traces of each other from their accounts in a dramatic move. Despite this, they still appear to follow each other on Instagram. In now-deleted photos, they showed the pair enjoying trips to Napa Valley, Yosemite National Park, the Golden Gate Bridge, Asia, and Vietnam, according to The Sun.

Ned, who appeared in 183 Emmerdale episodes and also starred in EastEnders as Mark Fowler, joined Emmerdale in 2017 as businessman Tom Waterhouse, later revealed to be Joe Tate. Originally played by Oliver Young, Joe was thought to be dead in October 2018 but was found alive abroad the following year.
Since his shock departure from the soap, Ned has made a splash in Netflix’s high-budget drama Bridgerton, portraying Lord Wetherby in the first season. His character, Lord Wetherby, was romantically involved with Sir Henry Granville, reports the Mirror.
At the time, fans were shocked to spot him in the series, and took to Twitter to share their surprise. One person wrote: “SHUT UP NED PORTEOUS IS IN BRIDGERTON”. While another added: “I KNEW I recognised Lord Wetherby!! @NedPorteous I see u #bridgertonnetflix”.

The TV star graced three episodes of the period drama, but unfortunately, his character didn’t make a return for the second season.
Ned wasn’t the only Bridgerton cast member to have soap connections. Phoebe Dynevor, who stars Daphne Bridgerton, is the daughter of Sally Dynevor, who is known for her role as Sally Webster on Coronation Street.
In an interview with Glamour, she revealed: “The Bridgerton family are a really, super-tight-knit family and I have the same thing at home. I’m really close to my parents and my family—they have shaped me every way they could; they’ve been such an amazing support system.”
Despite being so young, Phoebe already seems to be somewhat of a British TV veteran, having starred in acclaimed series Waterloo Road as Siobhan Mailey at just 14. She has also featured in Prisoners’ Wives and Dickensian among others.
Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX, with an hour-long episode on Thursdays
