Will Smith and his “First Love” collaborator had a steamy performance last week that had social media talking.
Just one week after dropping the song, tied to Valentine’s Day, Smith and India Martínez performed “First Love” at Univision’s 37th Premio Lo Nuestro Awards on Feb. 20. The artists turned up the heat while dancing on stage and even leaned in close to simulate a kiss.
In the comments section of the video, fans weren’t big on Will doing that.
“He looks uncomfortable trying to play it off cool. What was Demi Moore thinking,” one user wrote.
“I was waiting for Jada to come out from left stage and smack the sh!t outta her for kissing her man,” another person wrote.
“They never kissed bit it worked got everyone in an uproar!”
Smith has been promoting the song since it was released, even sharing behind-the-scenes footage from the show, with “First Love” being his latest single following “Beautiful Scars” featuring Big Sean.
Smith and Martinez have also had some fun with the “First Love” promo, posting a TikTok encouraging followers to share their own “first love” stories in the comments.
Some mistook the collaborators for actually kissing on stage, a shock for some, as Smith has been married to Jada Pinkett Smith since 1997. As revealed in the actress’ memoir Worthy, the Smiths have been separated since 2016 and live in different houses. The couple also doesn’t intend to divorce.
Still, Smith and Pinkett Smith have publicly supported each other throughout the years, with the Academy Award winner even attending stops on the Worthy book tour. Pinkett Smith returned the favor by supporting her husband at his Bad Boys: Ride or Die premiere last May, where Smith declared her to be “one of the most gangsta ride-or-die’s” he’s ever had.
