Hollywood has officially arrived in Heaton, with the opening of the stunning Eatflix cinema, which is on a mission to serve up 5D movie magic all year round.
Eatflix is a concept that has taken Newcastle by storm over the last year, with its events at Alfie’s, on the outskirts of the city centre, being packed to the rafters every single time, as more and more dates had to be added to meet the phenomenal demand. And now, the brains behind the hugely popular venture, brothers Joe and Ollie Brack have taken their creation to the next level.
No longer is Eatflix just something that is on at Alfie’s, it is now a full time cinema; after they and their team took on the building at 269 Chillingham Road in Heaton, that was famous for many years, for being a popular dance hall. The successful siblings announced their plans towards the end of last year and this week, the doors to Eatflix were opened for the first time to a huge reaction.
As well as boasting a huge screen and state of the art sound, Eatflix cinema is old school Hollywood at its best; with decadent red and gold decor, glistening chandeliers and more movie posters than any teenager or film buff could want on their wall, including ET, Grease and The Mask.
Customers can relax in luxurious seating after ordering their pick from a film themed cocktail menu that takes inspiration from everything from Harry Potter to Practical Magic; with Butterbeer and Midnight Margaritas going down a storm, as well as Pulp Fiction themed Espresso Martinis and Sex and the City essential, the Cosmopolitan.
The idea of Eatflix, with tickets available HERE, is that you don’t just watch the film; you get a full experience themed around it; with a brilliantly constructed menu of food and drinks being served to you at precise moments during the film; to correspond with what characters are enjoying on screen, or to tie in with lines from the script. Forget a tub of popcorn and an Ice Blast; Eatflix is an a la carte night at the movies.
Ahead of its official opening to the public next week, Eatflix has been inviting guests in for a first taste of the action, with Disney Pixar’s Ratatouille the first movie on the schedule.
