It’s already been a calorie friendly hit in Gateshead and now Lean Cuisine has moved to the other side of the water, to open up a new venue on the outskirts of Newcastle.
For years now, Lean Cuisine is a brand that has gathered plenty of custom from people wanting to fill up on fresh and healthy food, with them opening in 2019, just a year before Covid and then, like many other hospitality businesses, having to adapt to everything the pandemic threw at them, for what seemed like an eternity.
Popular for both eat-in meals and deliveries, Lean Cuisine is still going strong from its Gateshead base at Team Valley Shopping Village, but the team behind it have now broadened their horizons and have just opened inside a new premises on Jesmond Road. The new Lean Cuisine opened its doors for the first time last week and has already had plenty of takers for its wide mix of meals for right round the clock, including hot specials of the day, Mexican avocado on toast, overnight oats, tasty wraps and Acai bowls.
With a prime location right next to Jesmond Dene, putting in a great position to attract walkers, workers and local residents alike, Lean Cuisine has the option to ‘grab and go’ or sit in and is currently open Monday-Friday, although owner Robyn Johansen told ChronicleLive she is looking at the possibility of extending that going forward, as well as being massively encouraged by how things have gone so far.
Giving a bit of a back story on branching out to Newcastle, she explained: “It was last summer when we started looking at somewhere to open in Newcastle, but never found the right spot, until we came across where we are now. Being right next to the Dene, we’ve had a lot of walkers in who’ve popped in to pick up a coffee and a cake or protein bar and plenty of students have been in as well, after spotting some of the offers we’ve been running on Instagram.”
As well as offering a mix of hot an cold foods, including the popular peri peri pulled beef wrap and chicken tikka masala flatbread, Lean Cuisine, also offers meal prep and healthy eating plans, which can also be ordered online
