Lloyds Banking Group has confirmed which of its branches will be closing within the next 15 months with several North East sites impacted, after it announced today that 136 of its sites will be shutting across the UK.
The closures will include 61 Lloyds, 61 Halifax and 14 Bank of Scotland branches, which will shut their doors for good between May 2025 and March 2026. The news comes just weeks after the banking chain confirmed a shake-up of its business to allow customers of any of these three brands to use any store within the Lloyds Banking Group.
Lloyds said the decision is a result of customers increasingly continuing to shift away from in-person banking to online and mobile services. The company had already revealed plans earlier this month to shut an additional 55 branches between January and September this year.
The closures will see Lloyds and Halifax branches close on several of the North East’s high streets in the coming months, with affected sites including ones in Northumberland and County Durham. Take a look at the full list below.
