Gabby Logan has been confirmed as one of three new presenters on Match of the Day next season. Gary Lineker revealed in November that he would be stepping down from his 25-year role as the host of BBC One’s flagship football highlights show at the end of the current 2024/25 season.
The 64-year-old will continue to front the BBC’s FA Cup coverage next season as well as the 2026 World Cup in North America. The impending departure of the TV favourite has sparked endless speculation about his successor, but it has now been confirmed that long-time BBC sports presenter Logan, Sky Sports’ Kelly Cates and MOTD 2 host Mark Chapman will share the role once Lineker steps down.
Logan joined the BBC back in 2007 and there are few sporting events that the Leeds native has not covered since launching her broadcasting career in 1992. She is a graduate of Durham University, and cut her broadcasting teeth on Tyneside, working for Metro Radio and Tyne Tees Television. She is known to be a Newcastle United fan and has worked with club at Newcastle United Foundation events.
She joined Sky Sports in 1996 and quickly climbed the ranks of a male-dominated industry, later becoming an instantly recognisable face on British television. She hosted Sport Relief for the BBC in 2004 before joining the corporation three years later.
She started presenting her own morning show on BBC Radio 5 Live in 2008, reports the Mirror. The 51 year old has built an impressive career spanning various sports, from football to swimming, and has been a regular face on numerous BBC shows. These include Final Score, Inside Sport, Invictus Games, MOTD Six Nations, The Olympic Journey, The One Show, The Premier League Show, The World Swimming Championships, Women’s Football, as well as coverage of the 2022 World Cup and 2024 Paris Games.
Given her extensive experience, it’s no surprise that she has reportedly amassed a net worth of around £4million over her 28-year career, making her the highest-earning female in sports journalism. Logan, who also hosts her own podcast, ranked seventh in a list of Britain’s highest-earning sports presenters and pundits for 2024 with a salary of £210,000, according to figures from Sportcasting, via SPORTbible.
Before her successful career in TV, radio, print and podcasts, she placed 11th in rhythmic gymnastics at the 1990 Commonwealth Games in Auckland. Her inspiration came from her father, Tony Yorath, a Welsh international footballer who played for Leeds United and Canadian side Vancouver Whitecaps.
Gabby’s husband is Kenny Logan – a former Scotland rugby star who retired in 2004. During his career as a winger, he won three English Premierships with Wasps RFC and one Scottish Premiership title with Stirling County RFC, while also representing Scotland internationally on 70 occasions.
The pair have been married since 2001, when she changed her surname from Yorath to Logan. They have twins Reuben and Lois, born on July 28, 2005. In 2007, the couple participated in Strictly Come Dancing as rival contestants, with Kenny partnered with Ola Jordan and Gabby with James Jordan, Ola’s husband. Gabby finished 12th, while Kenny came fifth.
Kenny was diagnosed with dyslexia as a child and had trials as a goalkeeper for Dundee United and Hearts. In 2022, he was diagnosed with prostate cancer but received the all-clear after treatment.
“It’s hard because when you’re told you’ve got cancer… I literally fell over,” Logan told BBC Breakfast. “I had no symptoms whatsoever.”
The couple lives in a stunning semi-rural Edwardian mansion in Buckinghamshire, which Gabby regularly showcases on Instagram. The property required modernization, but the results are impressive. “It’s an Edwardian house with a lot of character, but we have done loads of work to bring it right up to date. It is incredibly sunny and has loads of light, which I love,” Gabby told The Metro.
Gabby has given fans a glimpse into her stunning home through several photos shared on social media – and it’s truly a sight to behold. The luxurious property features an open-plan kitchen and dining area, tastefully decorated with cream walls and black marble worktops, including a waterfall island at the centre of the room.

During the pandemic, she converted her opulent living room into a temporary studio for a TV appearance. Upstairs, her bedroom follows a similar understated design theme, with light grey walls and carpets, complemented by cream furnishings.
Gabby and Kenny’s bedroom also boasts its own dressing room, complete with floor-to-ceiling wardrobes and shelves. In addition to a home office, the sports enthusiast presenter even has her own home gym, decked out with wooden flooring and various pieces of equipment such as a jump box, treadmill, spin bike and cross trainer.
