Podcast queen GK Barry, known off-air as Grace Keeling, has dished the dirt on life in the I’m A Celebrity jungle after her recent reality TV stint. The 25 year old presenter, who got the boot just two days before the grand finale along with Corrie’s Alan Halsall, wasted no time sharing behind-the-scenes gossip from her time down under now that she’s back on British soil.
Opening up on her own Saving Grace podcast while chilling on a plush sofa, Grace held nothing back as she opened up to her fans. Offering insight into how the cast managed their nicotine cravings, she confessed: “You can smoke if you’re in the jungle,” but it comes with a catch.
Stars must sneak off one by one, accompanied by a security guard for a secretive ciggie break amidst nature. Reflecting on the experience, Grace mused, “So it’s not really the same vibe as outside Freedom on a Saturday night, it’s kind of depressing,” adding with a guilt-tinged observation, “You feel like you’re killing the planet; it feels morally wrong to smoke in the jungle,” reports the Daily Star.
Despite her environmental concerns, Grace fondly recalled how she grew quite close to the security guards who chaperoned celebs in and out of camp, describing the guards as “absolutely lovely” and giving a special mention to two of her personal favourites – Michael and Matt.
Grace also spilled the beans on the behind-the-scenes action, revealing where the celebs get their wood for the all-important campfire. She revealed her role involved gathering wood, which meant trekking quite a distance from the camp and even wading through a lake in waterproof boots.
“I would fill this sack up with like, eight bits of wood and shove it over my back,” she shared. “I would climb back uphill to the camp; I got so fit, I think that’s why I lost so much weight – I looked like Jessica Ennis when I came out of the jungle, an Olympian.”
She didn’t hold back on praising co-star Alan either, who accompanied her on trips to gather firewood. However, she expressed disappointment at ITV producers for not capturing Alan’s humour, stating he’s one of the funniest people she’s ever met.
Post-jungle life has Grace contemplating commemorative tattoos, inspired by her time in the wilderness alongside her actor buddy Alan. With a laugh, she hinted at possibly getting a Huntsman spider tattoo, well-known among I’m A Celebrity aficionados.
