GloRilla Slams Tokyo Toni for Calling Her a Beyoncé ‘Clout Chaser’

Not everyone was ecstatic over Beyoncé earning Album of the Year at the Grammys.

Tokyo Toni took to Instagram to first throw shade at Bey for, it seems, her failure to thank God—and Jesus specifically—in her acceptance speech. Toni then put GloRilla on blast for her excitement surrounding the pop star’s big win.

Toni took a jab at Big Glo’s physical appearance, calling her “Gorilla.” She added, “’Cause ain’t nothing glowing about you, little one. Two feet tall… looking like a 10-year-old boy. Jumping up and down for a bitch like that.”

Toni then claimed that Glo was “clout chasing” and wasn’t really that happy that Queen B won AOTY. “They gotta do it,” Toni said. “[Beyoncé] not gonna do that for you.”

GloRilla quickly took to the comment section, clapping back at Tokyo Toni for her appearance: “Somebody call animal control,” the Glorious rapper wrote.

Conversely, Tina Knowles took to IG on Monday to share a clip of GloRilla cheering for Beyoncé as she walked on stage to accept AOTY.

“This was me last night when they announced @beyonce won for Album Of The Year at home watching by myself,” Ms. Knowles wrote. “@glorillapimp was me and I was her!! We were the same person.”

GloRilla’s love for Beyoncé is well-documented. The pair first met briefly at the Grammys in February 2023. “I hugged Beyoncé. I’m never taking a bath again,” Glo later wrote on Facebook. “I’m finna get my 15-second conversation with Beyoncé tatted.”

The pair linked again last summer at Michael Rubin’s All White Party. GloRilla was with Megan Thee Stallion when Bey invited them to hang out in her section.

GloRilla recounted the meeting on Angel Reese’s Unapologetically Angel podcast: “She was like, ‘Y’all come over here. I’m like, ‘Come over here to your section? … I was nervous, I was just standing there like, ‘I don’t know what the fuck to say to Beyoncé.’ She was like, ‘You can sit down right there.’ I’m like, ‘Oh my god.’”

The encounter made her emotional. “Girl, I can’t help it,” she told Reese. “Tears started coming down my face. I really love her that bad.”

This year’s Grammys were major for Beyoncé. She not only took home AOTY for Cowboy Carter, but also became the first Black woman to earn the Grammy for Best Country Album. She also snagged the award for Best Country Duo/Group Performance, boosting her total number of Grammy wins to 35. She’s now the most-nominated and most-awarded artist in the award show’s history.
