Huge Northumberland music festival announces 50 more acts for 10th birthday programme

The festival billed as the ‘ultimate end-of-summer party’ has added another 50 artists to its line-up as it prepares to celebrate a big birthday in cracking style.

Lindisfarne Festival in Northumberland is pulling together its biggest ever programme for what will be its 10th instalment and around 200 acts in all will be playing this year across eight stages. Its varied bill already includes folk-rock headliner The Waterboys; Grammy-nominated dance music DJ Armand Van Helden; rock pioneers Hawkwind and indie singer-songwriter Jamie Webster and now organisers are adding to that with the likes of Scottish favourites Sandi Thom and Celtic band Shooglenifty plus blues rockers When Rivers Meet and the folky Beans on Toast.

Other new additions include Guest Singer, Small Fakers, Jeremiah Ferrari, Anton Decks, Earl Grey, Sista Paula, The Funk Monks and Pistol Daisys – and there are plenty more to come, including news of another headliner for the middle night of its August 28-30 run. As previously announced, the coming year sees the North East packed with music festivals and the late-summer Lindisfarne Festival is always an annual treat.

Adding to its attractions is its unique location at Beal Farm on the Northumberland coast, with Holy Island as its backdrop. The independent festival, founded by Conleth Maenpaa a decade ago with the aim of creating something special for the North East, features creative arts and comedy too.

This year Newcastle-based comedian outfit Felt Nowt will be bringing the laughs while walkabout entertainers, poetry, yoga, meditation and holistic therapies also will be adding to the atmosphere. Among the food and drink options will be The Viking Brewhouse, returning to serve up Northumbrian beers.

And with more than 200 acts at the focus of its three days, music fans will be spoiled for choice with everything on offer from feel-good anthems on the festival’s Shorefields main stage to late-night partying at its ‘electronic playground’ DeltaCity, as well as folk at its Dingle Dell home and a new Altar Stage set to showcase what’s described as ‘a kaleidoscope of beats and bangers for those in need of a spiritual sonic awakening’.

Spokesperson Debbie Travis-Waller said: “We always say Lindisfarne Festival is where music, magic and mayhem collide and this year we’re going even bigger.” She added that for its 10th birthday, it will be delivering “the biggest, wildest, most diverse line-up we’ve ever had”, calling it “a proper pilgrimage to remember”.

Its full line-up to date can be found on the festival website where tickets are already on sale, with five-month payment plans also available: see here. A second release stage has, for example, advance discount tickets available for all three days, with camping, for £149.99.
