Kay Burley is rumoured to be wrapping up her time on Sky News’ breakfast show after a notable five-year run – with her final stint reportedly happening any day now. TV insiders have hinted at the possibility of Kay completely leaving Sky, however there are murmurs of a network reshuffle which could see her remain in some capacity, the Mirror has reported.
Having been a familiar face on Sky News since its beginning in 1989, the seasoned journalist, 63, stepped up to take charge of the breakfast slot in October 2019. Her illustrious broadcasting career has seen her lead coverage of dramatic global events including Princess Diana‘s untimely death and the chilling 9/11 terrorist attacks. OK! has reached out for comment to representatives for Kay Burley and Sky News.
Just one month ago, Kay took to X, lounging on an opulent blue sofa as she shared a reflective moment with a picture captioned: “Thirty six years today @skynews and counting..” This trip down memory lane came amidst fans’ concerns after she had been off-air throughout the summer – however, Kay made her return towards the end of August.
Returning to her presenting role at the time, she took to X saying: “Thanks for all your very kind messages but summer is over and I’m back on Tuesday. Very much looking forward to seeing you from 7am? Do hope so xx.” Amidst the recent changes, Sky News has tweaked its lineup, introducing new presenter duos such as Gareth Barlow and Mhari Aurora, reports the Mirror.
Sky News’ ace business presenter Ian King revealed recently that he’s leaving his role as the host of “Business Live with Ian King” after a solid run of ten years at the helm. This news comes after the production of Ian’s acclaimed show was moved from the hustle and bustle of the City to Sky’s expansive Osterley campus.
Ian is set to remain on the scene until the blossoms open next year, while “Business Live” keeps its date with audiences every weekday morning. Sky News boss David Rhodes had nothing but praise for Ian, saying: “Ian has been with Sky for 10 years, enriching our news report with his knowledge of finance and his network in the City of London. We’re delighted that he will continue to be a resource on our digital estate at this time.”
He went on to state, “I met this morning with the Business team to discuss our continued commitment to ‘Business Live’, hosted in recent months principally by Paul Kelso and Darren McCaffrey from our main newsroom.”
