I’m A Celeb fans were left ecstatic when Maura Higgins finally made her entrance into the jungle on Thursday night’s show, along with Reverend Richard Coles. Although the two are worlds apart, fans couldn’t get enough of their budding friendship on screen.
The two newcomers were greeted into a ‘Junkyard’ camp, which at first they thought was going to be their worst nightmare. However, it wasn’t long before it was revealed by hosts Ant and Dec that the Junkyard wasn’t a Junkyard after all, and more of a ‘7 star camp’. The late arrivals were ecstatic when they found out they could pull out a bed, sofa and fridge from their camp, but there was one rule, to keep their luxuries a secret from the other camp mates.
Although Maura and Richard were living life in their dressing gowns, every time a celeb from main camp entered, they had to hide all their luxuries away, and pretend they were roughing it.
The newcomers are even getting away with doing any trials. Poor Melvin Odoom was seen in a challenge for cupcakes last night, covered in junk. Unbeknownst to him, Maura and Richard were sat on the level above, drinking tea and eating sandwiches, as they pretended to be going through the same pain as the Radio 1 host.
Viewers have applauded ITV bosses for coming up with the segment, applauding the shows ‘funniest ever moment’ as one said on Reddit: “The Itv producer who’s idea it was for the junkyard and them to mess w the other Camp Mates deserves a Raise IMMEADIATELY.”
“Reminds me of the BedSit from Early Big Brother where they could spy on the housemates n play pranks on them,” while another said: “Maura and Richard were hilarious in the task. A+ telly.” A third penned: “Genuinely was one of the funniest things I’ve seen on im a celeb.”
However, some fans think the rest of the camp mates will be ‘fuming’ when the revelations come to light. “Wait till the main camp find out Maura and Rev Richard were actually living in “luxury” camp. That might be the moment it all kicks off!” laughed one fan.
At the moment, the main camp have been left feeling utteraly sorry for the new arrivals. In the evening, a letter was ‘sent’ by Maura asking for one of them to give up their bed. Loose Women star Jane Moore offered to give up hers, whilst Dean then offered to be the one to sleep on the floor.
In a hilarious moment, Alan, Danny and Dean went to deliver the bed to the junkyard, oblivious that Maura and Richard had just packed away their pull out bed.
When the trio left, Richard asked what they should do with the camp bed, as Maura jokingly responded: “Burn it!”
