Inside Coronation Street’s Rowan star Emrhys Cooper’s life from Hollywood roles to famous sister

Coronation Street’s latest heartthrob, Emrhys Cooper, has certainly made a splash on the famous cobbles. The ITV hunk was introduced to fans as Rowan Cunliffe, who strutted onto the scene last month and quickly charmed Leanne Battersby at one of his seminars at the Chariot Square Hotel.

Leanne was taken aback when the group mentor of The Institute approached her with some unsolicited advice as she grapples with Simon’s recent binge drinking and ongoing tensions with fiance Nick Tilsley. However, Rowan soon won her over, encouraging her to share her deepest thoughts and feelings, reports the Daily Star.

As Leanne became more engrossed in the cult, she began to incorporate their teachings at home. But this isn’t Emrhys’ first major role and fans may be surprised to learn that the award-winning actor has a decorated career on the West End.

The 39 year old has enjoyed a varied career as an actor, dancer, singer-songwriter and artist. His impressive skills have taken him around the world, landing roles in legendary shows like Desperate Housewives and CSI:NY.

Emrhys also starred in Mamma Mia! the musical, a highlight in his career that saw him globetrotting as a performer. He made his West End debut at just 21 when he scored a role in the famous Queen musical We Will Rock You.

Before this, he took on a role in the national UK tour of Fame The Musical. Not just an actor, but a model and dancer too, Emrhys has worked with some of the biggest names in the music industry.

He’s worked alongside Madonna, the Pussycat Dolls and Christina Aguilera to name a few. He even played the ‘lift boy’ in the music video for the Sugababes number one hit single, Push The Button.

His dancing skills have taken him to some of the world’s biggest live shows including The X Factor, America’s Got Talent and the MTV EMAs. In 2013, he tried his hand at a solo music career, releasing his debut single Hypnotised.

Unfortunately, his brief foray into the music industry didn’t quite take off, with his single failing to make a splash on any major music chart. But Emrhys isn’t the only one in his family who’s had a taste of fame.

His sister Fleur shot to fame as a reality TV star when she appeared in the 2003 ITV2 programme Million Dollar Babes. The show followed a group of young girls as they became successful nightclub promoters and hostesses in some of the UK’s top clubbing venues.

Fleur’s job on the show was to find ‘tequila girls’ for nightclub events.

You can catch Coronation Street on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 8pm on ITV1 or watch it later on ITVX.
