Gogglebox fans got a delightful glimpse into the personal life of one of their favourite stars, Baasit Siddiqui, as he shared snapshots from his family holiday to Lanzarote. The TV personality took to Instagram to showcase the sunny escapade, accompanied by his wife Melissa and their two children, Amelia and Theodore.
In the caption, Baasit fondly recounted their memorable week in the sunshine, penning: “Heading back from a great week in the sunshine with the family,” adding, “Lanzarote was fab to explore”.
From enjoying delicious ice cream treats to striking poses for the camera and frolicking on the sandy shores, the Siddiqui family appeared to make the most of their time in the sun.
The heartwarming post garnered a flood of adoring comments from fans, marvelling at how Amelia has grown over the years since her appearances on the show.
One commented: “Lovely pictures, I can’t believe how grown up your daughter is now, I remember her being with you on gogglebox as a baby!!”
While another added: “Your wife Mel is very beautiful and your children such a gorgeous family. “
Some even suggested that Melissa should join the cast of Gogglebox, with a third penning: “Beautiful family. Mel you should join them on googlebox. You could bring the glam and beauty.”
For those unfamiliar with the Siddiqui clan’s television journey, Baasit, along with his father Sid and brother Umar, has been a beloved fixture on Gogglebox since its inception.
Born in Pakistan, Sid relocated to the UK at the age of 16 and has since made it his home. Married for nearly four decades, Sid and his wife have raised a loving family, including Baasit, Umar, two daughters, and another son named Raza. While Raza occasionally makes appearances on the show, his busy schedule often keeps him from joining the regular cast.
Baasit, in addition to his television gig, has been a dedicated secondary school teacher since 2007.
Reflecting on their Gogglebox experience, Baasit shed light on the filming process in an interview with the Derby Telegraph, explaining: “There are two remote cameras in the room when they’re filming.
“One is focusing on the family on the sofa and the other turns and films the close-ups of us.
“If one of us says something or reacts to something in a shocked way the camera will zoom into us. We have become so used to it now it just feels like a normal evening.”
Meanwhile, Gogglebox fans were sent into a frenzy during Friday’s instalment of the Channel 4 telly watching show, when two of the nation’s favourite armchair critics introduced viewers to a brand new addition to their family.
“I’ve got a new member in my family…” teased Leeds-based Daniella before adding: “This is my Rafi the Staffie!” A delighted Danielle then began to fuss over the new puppy as she squeaked out: “Raffi the Staff! Hi, baba!”
