If you’re planning on watching a lot of television on Christmas Day, ITV have you covered this year, with everything from soap dramas to the Downton Abbey movie on the menu for this year.
Often in the shadow of its rival, the BBC when it comes to the most watched shows over the festive period, ITV aren’t giving up without a fight this year, as while Gavin and Stacey looks set to be by far and away the most watched thing on Wednesday, they are going head to head with the finale of the much loved comedy, with their own trump card, the second Downtown Abbey film A New Era, which will also air in the competitive 9pm slot on Christmas Day.
And that shouldn’t be the only ratings hit ITV have on their hands this Christmas, as they are also lining up a visit to both Emmerdale and Coronation Street, as well as a screening of much loved Home Alone sequel Lost in New York, to try and keep viewers on side.
