ITV Emmerdale’s Will Ash ‘hurt’ in real life during emotional fight scenes

Next week on Emmerdale, a catastrophic crash is set to leave lives hanging in the balance, while Caleb Miligan uncovers a startling secret.

Caleb stirred up drama among the Dingles when he turned up a few Christmases ago, harbouring a dark secret. As Cain and Chas Dingle’s brother, it wasn’t long before his real agenda was revealed – he was hell-bent on getting back at Kim Tate for his father Frank Tate’s death. Now, months on, he’s become an integral part of Emmerdale’s most notorious clan, but trouble is looming.

Caleb is hit with the bombshell that Cain has been having a covert affair with his wife Ruby Fox-Miligan, leading to dire consequences. Will Ash, who plays Caleb, disclosed that this revelation triggers a fierce reaction.

“It sets off something in him. He can be quite calculated and quite measured, but when it comes to this, he can’t contain his rage,” Will explained, discussing the explosive fight scenes between Cain and Caleb. “It kicks off massively. I hurt myself filming it. I was hitting a bag and was going for it and I managed to hurt myself but I didn’t have to go to hospital.”

The upcoming episodes will see two limousine accidents putting several beloved villagers in jeopardy. Liam’s plan to use a raffle prize limo for an extravagant proposal to Chas falls apart when Kerry wins the prize instead, reports the Mirror.

Refusing to be thwarted in his plans to propose to Chas, he manages to snag another limo. Yet, as Kerry lures the girls out for a night on the town and Liam summons the lads, shenanigans ensue.

With Charity and Caleb hopping behind the wheel as makeshift chauffeurs, chaos quickly unfolds. Following some misadventures, both limos veer wildly off course – one even making a dramatic plunge onto a frozen lake.

“This incredible icy lake was made out of wax. It was a cold frosty night and you’ve got this huge limousine sunk into it,” Will reminisces about shooting those nerve-wracking scenes.

“When you’re walking on the wax, it felt like ice and you worried you were going to fall in. Everyone was walking so carefully. They had this huge crane because they had to lower the limo into this hole they had made because it wasn’t allowed to sit in the wax. It was pretty spectacular!”

Though next week’s episodes will see Cain and Caleb’s on-screen rapport take an unexpected twist, things are quite different when it comes to Will’s real-life camaraderie with co-star Jeff Hordley.

“I’ve known Jeff for 35 years so to get to work with him and play his brother has been a great thing. We used to do plays together when we were just starting out. It feels very brotherly, it’s very easy,” he shares.

The Dingles have their own private WhatsApp group that’s strictly off-limits to outsiders! “When Lydia had been raped and Craig murdered, there was a week where we were all in the Woolpack together trying to find out who killed him and the WhatsApp group came from that,” he reveals.

Caleb’s bond with Cain is just one aspect of his life; he’s also been a rock for his wife Ruby. Last week, fans discovered that Ruby was actually the one who ended her abusive father Anthony Fox’s life, as Will hinted that Caleb would go to any lengths to shield Ruby.

Two limos crash – but who makes it out alive?

“He’d put his life on the line for her and to keep the secret from Steph. It’s too painful for that to get out. It’s painful enough for Caleb and Ruby. They’re just papering over the cracks. It’s inevitable that it’s going to get out,” Will admits. “Without a doubt Caleb would take the blame. He didn’t see that Ruby was carrying this secret and wasn’t able to say it, but he feels gutted that he didn’t know anything. She’s sacrificed so much for him.”

With Steph stirring things up in the Dales, Will is eager for his onscreen son Nicky (Lewis Cope) to make a comeback. “I’d love for Lewis to come back. I didn’t want him to go. Nicky would find out about Ruby and grandad and it all makes sense to him why Steph was sent away, the family dynamic would be really interesting if he was to come back.”

As a deadly crash looms, fans are left wondering if Caleb’s time in the village is running out. Will, who plays Caleb, shared his thoughts on the intense storyline: “It’s been a gift to do such big scenes. They’re dark subjects but you’ve got to embrace the darkness of it. They’re really challenging but you want to get them right,” he concludes.

With chaos set to erupt next week, the future for Caleb and his family hangs in the balance, and it could all end very suddenly.
