However, the beloved actress is most renowned for her role in the Eighties TV series Super gran. Gudrun was 59 when she starred in the cherished series for which she is now best remembered.

The kids’ TV show, which even sparked two computer games back in the day, was centred around a super-powered granny, a character lifted straight from Forrest Wilson’s books. The late actor and theatre director Iain Cuthbertson played Gudrun’s nemesis, the Scunner Campbell.

The series was such a hit with the young ones that it bagged an Emmy and was broadcasted in over 60 countries globally. It even gained massive popularity in Cuba, where it was translated into Spanish.
