James Arthur announces Newcastle date on new arena tour

Singer-songwriter sensation James Arthur says he could not be more delighted about taking to the road again on a major tour which will bring him to Newcastle.

News of the new Pisces tour – named after the Middlesbrough-born star’s upcoming new album – came on Thursday and is set to delight home turf fans as it includes a date at Newcastle’s Utilita Arena next February, with tickets going on sale this March. The announcement comes on the back of the release of the Say You Won’t Let Go singer’s new track Karaoke from his eagerly-awaited new Pisces album which is described as being a bold and energetic departure from the previously-released more introspective Celebrate.

James says that having had “the best time” last year on his Bitter Sweet Love tour, which celebrated his chart-topping album of that name and took him around the world, “I couldn’t be more thrilled to be hitting the road once again for the Pisces world tour.” He adds: “I hope to see some familiar faces back again and hopefully some new ones.”

And he is promising a “big old sing-song in some gargantuan rooms”. They include the city‘s arena again where he will play for local fans on February 5, the third date on the tour’s February leg.

The 36-year-old has come a long way since he first came to the public’s attention winning The X Factor back in 2012 and has built up a reputation as one of the biggest names in contemporary pop and soul, with a string of top 10 albums. He has amassed more than 38m monthly listeners on Spotify and has 11 platinum singles under his belt for hits such as Impossible; Can I Be Him; Naked; Rewrite the Stars and Lasting Lover.

A recent collaboration with Kelly Clarkson on From the Jump has raised his profile even further worldwide while back home he is also due to headline the Royal Albert Hall in London on March 26 for the Teenage Cancer Trust.

He is out to keep fans on their toes and the title of new single Karaoke is said to be a red herring as the song proves far cry from carefree karaoke and instead explores the emotional turbulence of a relationship. And there’s plenty more to come from the Pisces album – his sixth – which will be out on April 25 and can be pre-ordered here.

Tickets for his tour will go on sale at 9am on Friday, March 21 – see here – and the February dates are listed below.
