Former Kasabian frontman Tom Meighan is set to rock Sunderland with a one-off show in May.
The singer, who co-founded the band in 1997 and led it until 2020, has since enjoyed more success with the solo career he launched after leaving Kasabian and fans can expect a mix of both at his newly-announced North East show. He will play an exclusive one-off gig at Sunderland Live Arena in Houghton-le-Spring on May 23 and the special performance will be his only date in the region, ahead of his band’s upcoming summer festival commitments.
Supporting him on the day will be Hartlepool-based band Northern Hospitality and tickets for the show will go on sale on Monday, March 3. In his post-Kasabian years, Meighan, known for his big vocals and commanding stage presence, has continued to win acclaim and his 2023 debut solo album The Reckoning proved a hit.
When he takes to the stage at Sunderland Live, fans can expect to hear a mix of tracks from his latest album RoadRunner, which came out in January, alongside classic Kasabian anthems. His former band, meanwhile, continues with Sergio Pizzorno – also one of Kasabian’s co-founders – now taking on the frontman role and they are touring Australia this March.
Organisers expect tickets for Meighan’s Sunderland Live show to sell out fast from Monday’s release date. See the arena website here – where early bird tickets are set to cost £27.75 and general release ones £33.25 – and Meighan’s website. Alternately, keep an eye out on Ticketmaster.
