Katt Williams Brings Up ‘Kindred Spirit’ 2Pac When Asked About Diddy

Katt Williams, undoubtedly, has a lot to reflect on as we all start the process of sending 2024 off into the great beyond.

His appearance on Shannon Sharpe’s Club Shay Shay podcast in January still stands as one of the year’s tentpole moments, even nearly a year later, with everyone from Diddy to Steve Harvey getting a mention in the nearly three-hour discussion. In a new GQ interview, the titan of standup is asked about Diddy, whose 2024 has included being arrested in New York and being charged with trafficking and racketeering in a subsequent indictment.

But instead of mentioning Diddy by name in his response, Katt opted to bring up the late 2Pac, the 1996 murder of whom returned to the news cycle with the 2023 arrest of Duane Davis. Diddy, to be clear, has never been formally accused in connection with 2Pac’s killing. His name, however, has been frequently mentioned amid larger speculation about the death.

“I loved Tupac,” Williams told GQ’s Matthew Trammell in an interview published Tuesday. “And I felt like we were kindred spirits. So if I hear you responsible for knocking my n***a off … I don’t give a fuck what job I end up being in, I don’t care how things go, if I can get a way to get you, that’s what I’m all about. I just don’t like you walking around scot-free.”

Katt continued, referring to this individual as “a demon” before ending things with a note about the “cold spiritual warfare” he believes is taking place at a large scale. In his Shannon chat, Katt mentioned Diddy when making a larger point about multimillion-dollar offers he says he’s turned down.

“’Cause P. Diddy be wanting to party, and you got to tell him no,” he said at the time. “You got to tell him no. I did. See, I got the receipts for everything I’m telling you, that’s why I can say them so freely.”

Kevin Hart, Ludacris, Cedric the Entertainer, Rickey Smiley, and many other familiar names were also given mentions during Katt’s much-discussed interview. Take a look back at highlights from the widely aggregated conversation with our roundup from earlier this year.

Diddy remains in custody in New York ahead of a planned May start to his trial. He has pleaded not guilty, with an attorney calling the case “unjust.”
