Lewis Hall has taken to social media to share an update after undergoing surgery on his foot injury.
The ex-Chelsea defender will begin a period of rehabilitation with Newcastle United’s medical team. Newcastle delivered the devastating news last week, after he missed the club’s FA Cup tie against Brighton & Hove Albion.
The 20-year-old sustained an injury to a bone in his foot during the Premier League match against Liverpool last month. It means he will now miss their impending Carabao Cup final – against the same opponents – and all other remaining games this season.
Head coach Eddie Howe had said: “It’s an ankle problem that Lewis picked up after the Liverpool game. He didn’t really recover well. He felt pain, so he had a scan and now he’s been to see a specialist.”
It has been a huge blow for the Magpies. Howe will not only be without him for the Carabao Cup final but will also not be able to count on Anthony Gordon, who’s suspended. The black-and-whites still have ten huge league games to play in the race for Europe.
Having successfully undergone surgery this week, Hall took to Instagram and wrote: “Still absolutely devastated to not be out there with the lads at such a crucial part of the season. Surgery was a success and now time to rest, recover and support the boys. Thank you for all the messages over the past week, can’t wait to be back out there ready for next season.”
A number of Newcastle teammates posted in Hall’s comments section to wish the 20-year-old a speedy recovery. Jacob Murphy wrote: “Back better than ever Lewy H,” before Fabian Schar added: “You be back.”
Martin Dubravka said: “You will come back even stronger buddy,” while Bruno Guimaraes said: “Good recovery my G.” The post also prompted a response from Alan Shearer, who wrote: “Get well soon,” followed by the pray, black and white emojis.
