Liam Payne TV doc shares haunting revelations as witness describes moment ‘burned into his brain’

A tourist who witnessed Liam Payne‘s fatal fall has described the harrowing moment as “burned into his brain” in a controversial new documentary that has left fans appalled. The programme, TMZ Presents: Liam Payne: Who’s to Blame? which aired yesterday in the US, has come under fire for being “insensitive” and airing too soon after the One Direction star’s death.

In the documentary, hotel guest Bret Watson shared the chilling details of witnessing Liam’s fall, saying, “We happened to be looking out of the window of our hotel at the pool area to show her [the planner] the view from the hotel.” He continued: “We saw Liam fall… and so we immediately rushed out on the balcony to see what it was and when we looked down we could see that it was Liam laying on the ground,” adding his belief that the singer died instantly.

Liam tragically passed away after falling from the third-floor balcony of the CasaSur Palermo Hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina in October in events that shocked the world.

A report by the National Criminal and Correctional Prosecutor’s Office found “alcohol, cocaine and prescription antidepressants” in Liam’s system, but officials have dismissed suicide, stating that “in the state he was in, he did not know what he was doing and could not understand it”.

In the TMZ documentary, Mr Watson shared a chilling reflection: “The wedding planner and I looked at each other like ‘oh my God, this is real, this actually happened,'” reports the Mirror.

He went on to describe the incident as “heartbreaking” and “haunting”, confessing it’s an experience he’ll never be able to shake off. His distressing testimony was presented alongside a review of police documents, even though there’s an ongoing investigation into the death.

This decision to air the programme in the US, a mere two months after Liam’s tragic passing, has sparked outrage online. A dismayed fan commented on X: “Some of these topics are so invasive. just let him rest.”

Another expressed their frustration, saying: “I can imagine how mad, disappointed, furious and angry Liam Payne’s family and his former bandmates feel.” One individual remarked: “This is so gross. the case is not even closed.”

An additional X user voiced their irritation: “A further X user said: The way they’re talking about him is what’s frustrating… It is already pi**sing me off.” Meanwhile, another viewer argued: “It should be against the law discussing [this] case with [an] accused.”

Last week, judge Laura Bruinard ordered that footage of Liam’s fall which was captured on CCTV should be reviewed – eight weeks after his death. Authorities will examine the video which had previously not been shared.
