LiAngelo Ball Explains That “Tweaker” Means ‘Crazy’

With some encouragement from Complex’s Speedy Morman, LiAngelo Ball, also known as GELO, explained the meaning of his viral single “Tweaker.”

The professional basketball player-turned-rapper appears on the latest episode of 360 With Speedy, where around the 7-minute mark of the video above, he’s asked to break down the title’s meaning.

“That’s just my lingo, for real,” the 26-year-old told Speedy.

Speedy suggested that the slang means a “crazy person.”

“Yeah, damn near,” Ball said. “I can’t relate, really.”

But when asked if he’s a “tweaker,” Ball admitted to it, saying, “Yeah, sometimes. That’s why the song’s called that.”

After reciting the chorus, Speedy asked, “Let what go?”

“Aye, we can’t say that on here, bro,” Ball joked.

But when coaxed to provide a specific example, Ball explained that the word meant “something that just looks crazy.”

“Like, someone might see Melo and be like, ‘Oh, yeah, he’s tweaking,'” he said, referring to his younger brother. “[He] might spaz out, say some words loud.”

Speedy then asked about a “tweaking” scenario when it pertains to “swerving and bending that corner.” Ball was confused and asked for clarification before Speedy described someone driving erratically.

“Yeah, that’s tweaking. You shouldn’t be turning like that,” Ball said.

Ball swerves with both of his brothers in the new music video for “Tweaker,” which was released on Thursday. The song grew buzz on social media and has been a consistent hit this month, debuting at No. 29 on the Billboard Hot 100.
