Lil Baby has indicated he’s not so hot on “Not Like Us.”
In an interview with Charlamagne, in which he also spoke about his dwindling relationship with Gunna, the Atlanta rapper was asked how he felt when Kendrick Lamar mentioned him in his Drake diss record “Not Like Us.”
“He said, ‘Lil Baby helped you get your lingo up,’ in reference to Drake,” Charlamagne said. “What did you think when you heard that?”
With a smile on his face, Baby implied he wasn’t a fan of the chart-topping diss. “I ain’t really into that side of hip-hop,” he replied.
Charlamagne added that Baby clearly has a good relationship with Drake, with whom he has collaborated frequently, and Baby agreed.
“Yeah, great relationship,” he said. “So you know, it’s just with any situation like if you and him was arguing what the hell you gonna say? I don’t wanna be having nothing to do with it. Not saying whatever they got going on ain’t real and that, but I feel like, to me, rapping and shit be my work. I don’t want that type of shit at work. Even you saying like, ‘What’s your relationship with Gunna?’ I ain’t hear it. I ain’t in it for that type of shit. I ain’t on that.”
In the third verse of K.Dot’s scathing diss track, the Compton rapper accuses Drake of colonizing Atlanta and using some of the biggest rappers from the city to boost his reputation.
“Let me break it down for you, this the real n***a challenge / You called Future when you didn’t see the club,” he raps. “Lil Baby helped you get your lingo up / 21 gave you false street cred / Thug made you feel like you a slime in your head / Quavo said you can be from Northside / 2 Chainz say you good, but he lied / You run to Atlanta when you need a few dollars / No, you not a colleague, you a fuckin’ colonizer.”
Lil Baby is the first rapper to directly respond to being name-dropped on the diss record, but Young Thug has previously indicated that he wants Drake, Future, and Metro Boomin to move past their differences.
“We all bruddas. Music aint the same without us collabin,” he tweeted in October.
The beef between K.Dot and Drake kicked off properly after he appeared on Future and Metro’s “Like That,” which directly targeted Drizzy.
