In an episode of Loose Women, Denise Welch stirred up controversy with her bold remarks on Christine Lampard‘s sex life, leaving the audience stunned and Christine herself visibly taken aback.
The moment occurred during a segment discussing the age-old question: “Does sex stop when your marriage starts?”. And, as the panel delved into the topic, Denise wasted no time diving into the heart of the matter.
She candidly shared her insights, suggesting that relationship troubles often arise when partners neglect affectionate gestures, like hugs and compliments, which she described as “lovely caring things.”
However, it was Denise’s pointed reference to Christine’s husband, footballer Frank Lampard, that sent shockwaves through the studio. With a knowing nod in Christine’s direction, Denise remarked: “If one person wants it more than the other,” before dropping Frank’s name into the mix.
The audience erupted into laughter, while Christine retorted: “What do you know?”. Nadia Swalha humorously noted: “Denise is wild today.”
Despite the laughter, the panel eventually steered the conversation back on track. Denise clarified her stance, emphasising that mutual desire is key in any relationship. “If both of you don’t want it, then it’s totally fine,” she concluded.
This is not the first time Denise Welch has waded in on other people’s love lives. Denise fiercely defended This Morning star Alison Hammond, responding to the scrutiny surrounding her love life, specifically her romance with David Putman, who is thought to be around 20 years younger than her.
Taking to social media, the Loose Women star addressed growing concerns regarding her colleague Alison’s relationship, particularly regarding the significant age gap between her and her partner.
Responding to a newspaper’s report highlighting skepticism surrounding such relationships, the Geordie TV star, who herself is married to a younger man, felt compelled to share her perspective on the issue.
Denise, whose husband Lincoln Townley is almost 15 years her junior, sent a message to both the This Morning presenter and her new partner via social media, saying: “It could also work out brilliantly well and be the best thing that ever happened to her! ! ! Fabulous woman and deserves everything,” reports the Mirror.
Alison has not been quite as lucky in her off-screen love life. Although she shared her 18-year-old son Aiden with ex-fiancé Noureddine Boufaied, their relationship ended in a called-off engagement.
Sharing her apprehensions about marriage, Alison previously explained: “I think as soon as I hear the word marriage I get like cold feet. I think I’m just one of those people. (…) I just feel like I’m tied down and I don’t like it, when really and truly, I’m getting to that age now where I just think ‘Alison, let go – it’s okay to settle down’.”
