Lorraine Kelly issues frank four-word reaction to Prince Harry cutting ties with UK

Lorraine Kelly got straight to the point in her reaction to Prince Harry appearing to cut ties with the UK, as she gave a blunt four-word reaction.

The chat show host discussed Harry registering himself as a US resident in her ITV show Lorraine with royal correspondent Russell Myers, but made it clear she didn’t find it surprising as she stated: “That’s where he lives”.

Speaking on Thursday’s episode of her show, 18 April, Lorraine, 64, said: “Prince Harry making a lot of the front pages this morning after officially registering himself as an American resident. Well, that’s where he lives.”

Harry moved to Montecito in California with wife Meghan Markle and their son Archie in 2020, and daughter Lilibet was born there in 2021. Lorraine added: “It’s where his wife lives and I think the youngest baby was born there.”

Commenting on the latest royal news, Russell said: “Never a dull moment, first we had Meghan launching her jam range during the week and then we had Harry back to work as it were, on a Zoom call for his company Travalyst, a sustainable travel company he set up in 2019.

“But, overnight we’ve realised that he has changed the details on his Companies House profile to change his residency from the UK to the US.”

The royal reporter explained more about why it was significant, saying: “The date of the 29th of June (2023) where he says he took up residency in the US is when he was pretty much asked to leave his Frogmore Cottage house along with Meghan and the family. Is this the clearest indication that Harry won’t be coming back to the UK in any form? Very interesting situation.”

Lorraine asked of the Sussex family’s citizenship: “Would the kids have that? I don’t really know how it works.” Russell replied: “Well, he might well do because he was discussing on an American chat show recently about how he’s considered taking citizenship.

“He said he’s very happy in the States, why wouldn’t he be? Beautiful weather in California, Meghan’s businesses are hopefully going from strength to strength and we’ve got Harry working with Netflix and his travel company. So, listen, I think we might see him back in the future but never say never.”

Since their move to the US and stepping down as senior royals, Harry and Meghan have made few visits back to the UK. However, Harry did return recently to visit his father King Charles after his cancer diagnosis.
